Stroughair Joins RMS as Head of RiskMarkets Group

Newark, Calif. — Risk Management Solutions (RMS), a provider of products and services for catastrophe risk management, announced that John Stroughair was hired to head the RiskMarkets group of RMS Consulting. In this capacity, he will be responsible for all RMS capital markets activities, including risk analysis of catastrophe bonds for use by rating agencies and investors, the Paradex initiative to provide parametric indices for risk transfer and a new platform for managing insurance-linked security portfolios.

Stroughair joins RMS from Oliver Wyman & Co., where he was a managing director in the corporate risk practice, focusing on developing quantitative approaches to improve managerial decisions. He also played a key role in the firm’s initiative to provide risk management consulting to organizations outside the financial services sector.  In addition, Stroughair was one of the founders of the company’s Frankfurt office, where he led the growth of the risk-based consulting business in Germany and Switzerland.

“John’s significant experience in developing methodologies for measuring and managing credit and market risk for financial institutions makes him a very strong addition to the RiskMarkets group,” says Peter Nakada, managing director of RMS Consulting. “He is well positioned to help us embed our new insurance-linked security platform into the catastrophe bond issuance process, increase industry awareness of Paradex and further expand the capabilities of the RiskMarkets team.”
