Society for Information Management Members Say IT is Shifting

In its annual survey of CIOs and IT executives, the Society for Information Management reports that IT shows positive signs for the future. Budget issues dropped down on the list of top concerns among CIOs, and companies continue to invest--in staff, business intelligence and emerging technologies such as cloud computing.

Primary Spending Categories

Business intelligence is the number one spending category, followed by cloud computing and enterprise resource planning. Next were two categories new to the top five, mobile and wireless applications along with customer relationship management, respectively.
