Technology in Agency Offices Boosts Profitability

Angelyn Treutel Zeringue
Insurance Experts' Forum, April 9, 2012

Having recently left an agency to strike out on my own, I knew what was needed to begin a successful agency—high tech, high touch. Not just words, but a way of life that instantly creates a profitable agency. I am a fanatic for technology in an agency office. When clients walk in, they need to see a highly efficient, paper-free, service-oriented environment. These attributes contribute greatly to a professional image.

I am an advocate of efficient workflows and implementing technology that works for you in your agency. For far too long, agents have become servants to their technology, content re-keying data into multiple systems. Agents have become processors. I am a believer in getting back to basics – the basic art of freeing up our agency offices from paper and inefficient workflows, and getting back to using our tremendous networking skills to make more sales.

I look forward to getting up each day and going to work, because I don’t sell insurance, I help people. What a rewarding industry we are in. It is an industry able to help people when they have lost everything. Our industry helps them rebuild their lives. And, our industry is not like a store selling jewelry, which is only needed at special occasions. We sell a product that everyone needs.

Throughout my insurance career, I have been honored to work with many insurance industry pioneers. These individuals work together tirelessly to make our industry better, and I am proud to serve with them. Each month, I will be happy to share some of the tips I have learned during my tenure.

Throughout the next few months, I will share with you information on insurance and business issues including real time technology, best practices, social networking, internet marketing, workflow efficiency, disaster preparedness and recovery, customer service, websites, future issues and opportunities, finance and insurance sales. I also invite your questions and comments.

I look forward to sharing ideas with you.
